Slow Food Phoenix Hosts Seasonal Fruit Author Deborah Madison

This event is a little pricey for my budget but it sounds like fun, and delish! One of my faves will be there, urbancookies.com.

Word has it that they are making an ice cream cookie sammie for the summer. Haven't tried it yet, but have heard it's grrrrrreat!

Envision a balmy Saturday morning at a private orchard, the sun warming your cheeks as you bite into juicy, ripe peaches and apricots, which are at their peak right now.

Sounds like heaven, right?

That happens to be the game plan for this weekend's unique event sponsored by Slow Food Phoenix and Changing Hands Bookstore.

This Saturday morning, from 8:30 to 10 a.m., author Deborah Madison will be on hand to sign copies of her luscious tome, Seasonal Fruit Desserts From Orchard, Farm, and Market.

Walk the grounds of a privately owned orchard at Palo Verde Road and 3rd Avenue in Phoenix, and enjoy a discussion with Madison and local author Greg Peterson on planting fruit trees, harvesting the bounty, and making delicious seasonal desserts. Along with fresh fruit, you'll get to sample Urban Cookies' new mini peach cupcakes.

Tickets are $45 per person or $65 per couple, and include one copy of Seasonal Fruit Desserts as well as copies of Peterson's books, My Organic Yard, and Grow Wherever You Go. To register, visit www.fruit.eventbrite.com.
